Accepted: What's Next?

Congratulations to all our students on their university acceptances! You’ve worked hard, schools have rendered their decisions, and it’s now time for you to make a choice. As you sort through your options, here are some helpful tips:

  • Review Your Acceptances: Carefully read through your acceptance letters and any accompanying information. Review and compare the different schools and the offers. Pay close attention to any deadlines and instructions.

  • Decline Unwanted College Offers: As soon as you’ve decided not to attend a school, send a brief email declining the offer. This frees up space for other students.

  • Attend Admitted Student Events: To help students make their decision, many universities host events on their campuses specifically for admitted students. If possible, take advantage of the opportunity to learn more about the universities and meet other admitted students in person. You will be glad you did.

  • Make Your Decision: Once you've selected your school, carefully follow the instructions provided in your admissions portal and officially accept your place by the required deadline – typically May 1st.

  • Submit Required Documents: Ensure that you submit any required documents such as enrollment forms, health records, and tuition deposits by the specified deadlines. For international students who are not citizens of the country where they will matriculate, communicate frequently with the admissions office to secure your education visas.

  • Plan Your Housing: If you’re planning to live on campus, research housing options and submit any necessary applications or deposits as soon as possible.

  • Tap Into Your University’s Social Media: Join the Facebook or other social media group of your freshman class. Similarly, have your parents join the parents' groups. These are great sources of timely information. Also, follow your school’s financial and academic offices’ social sites to stay up-to-date.

  • Prepare for Orientation: Look into orientation programs offered by the university and make plans to attend. Orientation is a valuable opportunity to familiarize yourself with the campus, meet with academic advisors, and register for classes.
